Heart-Healthy Oatmeal Recipe (Cholesterol-Friendly)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or low-fat milk
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring the water or milk to a boil.
  2. Add the oats and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in the diced apple and cinnamon during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in the flaxseed.
  5. Top with walnuts and honey if desired.
  6. Serve warm.
