Ingredients
- 1 medium green papaya, peeled and grated
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 green chili (optional)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh coriander for garnish
- Juice of ½ lemon
Instructions
- Prepare the papaya
Peel the green papaya, remove seeds, and grate or cut into thin strips. Rinse well. - Cook aromatics
Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and garlic, sauté until golden. - Add spices
Stir in turmeric, pepper, salt, tomato, and chili. Cook for 2–3 minutes. - Add papaya
Add grated green papaya and stir well. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes until tender but slightly crisp. - Finish
Add lemon juice and garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve
Enjoy hot with rice, bread, or as a healthy side dish. The green papaya has a mild flavor and absorbs spices beautifully.
